Alton Braxton Crumpler, Sr.

November 2, 1933 – January 6, 2011

Alton B. “Al” Crumpler, age 77, of Picayune passed away

Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Visitation will be Monday, January 10th from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

at Picayune Funeral Home, in Picayune, Mississippi

with burial in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Mr. Crumpler was born on November 2, 1933 in Wayne County, NC.

He graduated from North Carolina State University with a

Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering and

obtained his Master’s Degree in Geological Engineering

from Florida State University. He spent his forty year career

in Suitland, MD and Bay St. Louis, MS working for NAVOCEANO

as an Oceanographer Research Engineer and Manager.

He was a wonderful father, loving husband and brother.

Mr. Crumpler was a Christian and was preceded in death by

his parents, Ernest and Elnora Mitchell Crumpler and

by his wife, Vivian McKeithan Crumpler.

He is survived by

his two sons, Bill Crumpler of Picayune

Braxton Crumpler (Lisa) of Madison

four grandsons, Corey, Caleb, Reece and Hayes Crumpler

two sisters, Dorothy Blanchard of Randleman, NC

Rose Hicks of Pikeville, NC.
