Marilyn McNeill Lumpkin

January 18, 1938 – October 13, 2007

 

Marilyn McNeill Lumpkin, age 69, died Saturday, October 13, 2007

at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS,

after a valiant battle with a lengthy illness.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 15th

from 6 to 9 PM at Picayune Funeral Home.

 

Her life and legacy will be celebrated Tuesday, October 16th

at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Picayune,

with Rev. Keith Warden officiating.

 

Interment follows at McNeill Cemetery,

under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Lumpkin graduated from McNeill High School

and Pearl River Junior College. Prior to her retirement,

she was a valued employee at L.O. Crosby Memorial Hospital

and Mason Technologies. She was an active member of the

First Baptist Church of Picayune and

Main Street Baptist Church of Hattiesburg.

She tirelessly volunteered with the Civic Woman's Club,

America's Junior Miss Scholarship Program and

forged cherished friendships with members of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her

four grateful children, Danny (Glennell) Lumpkin of Hattiesburg, MS and

Sharon Whitley Stahler of Hattiesburg, MS,

Shelia (Stan) Stanford of Clinton, MS, and

Suzanne (Charles) Hopkins of Tallahassee, FL;

her devoted sister,  Matty Jo Fox of McNeill;

devoted brother, Dan McNeill, Jr., of McNeill;

her aunt, Faye Malley of Poplarville, MS;

and nine adoring grandchildren.

 

 They believe she has been reunited with

her husband of forty years, John Byron Lumpkin, and

her parents, Dan C. and Lyn McNeill.

 

In lieu of flowers, mourners may contribute to the American Cancer Society,

the Junior Miss Scholarship program, or

the McNeill Cemetery Fund.
