James D. “J.D.” Burns, Sr.

April 7, 1932 – June 25, 2007

 

James D. “J.D.” Burns, Sr., age 75, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007

at his residence in Poplarville, Mississippi.

 

The funeral service will be Thursday, June 28th at 2 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel,

with Bro. Bobby Carroll, Bro. Charles Wilson, Bro. Larry Matthews,

Bro. Angus Thompson, and Bro. Mike Brown officiating at the service. 

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27th from 6-9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. 

 

Burial will be at Poplarville City Cemetery, under the direction of

Picayune Funeral Home.

 

J. D., a native of Smithdale, Mississippi, was a carpenter,

Pentecostal minister, evangelist, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. 

He was a member of the Friendly Faith Tabernacle in Independence, Louisiana.

 He was a loving husband and father.  He and his wife would have

celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in seven months. 

J.D. never met a stranger  and was a friend to everyone.

 

He is survived by

his wife, Hilda Burns of Poplarville;

four sons, James D. Burns, Jr. of Perkinston, Murry E. Burns of Picayune,

Terry G. Burns of Arkansas and Jared A. Burns of Poplarville;

three daughters, Quannah Ramshur of Picayune, Sherry L. Brown

of Poplarville and Connie Hinman of Picayune;

three brothers, Arnold R. Burns, Herbert R. Burns and

Willie M. Burns all of Picayune;

twin sister, Rosie Lee Davis of Picayune;

his sister, Pauline Entrekin of Picayune;

seventeen grandchildren and

sixteen great-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by

his parents, William and Ida Burns;

two brothers, Thomas and William L. Burns; and

a sister, Maudine Burns.
